I Have just recieved confirmation of my selection to compete in the UK Worldskills advanced floristry competition at Malvern showground in September!
Category: competitions
Uk skills competition last Sunday. I had to make 4 designs from flowers & sundries which were supplied on the day. A Bridal design for a garden wedding, a handbag for the brides mum, a table arrangement for 8 people, and a necklace for a bridesmaid.
I achieved first place, if I have accumulated enough points, hopefully I will be invited to the final in September.

As part of the Level 3 ANC we were invited to take part in a competition organised by Poole Pottery. The judging would be done by the general public over a period of 3 days. We were each asked to choose a piece of pottery from the shop then had 3 hours in which to create a stunning design. We all had to use theĀ same flowers but were able to bring in a couple of extra materials from home. Everyones design was unique, and because it was being judged by the public everyone stood a good chance of winning. The winning design came from the only guy in our class, Daniel. Well done!!
- My final design
Annual Bournemouth and poole college Floristry competition 2009. Held at the Carrington hotel in bournemouth in April. A competition for all the floristry students past and present. Different categories for each level, ranging from, designing a pet adornement to designing a shop window display for Easter. Our level 3 class were asked to design a hat for ladies day at ascot. All the girls pieces were outstanding and all very different. I was placed 2nd with a score of 96/100. Was over the moon with my score, and was pleased i had improved since the chelsea hub meet. Angela Turner demonstrated at the competition, and was able to help her with preparing some of the pieces. She is an amazing florist with years of experience in the industry, i learnt some new tecniques that i hadnt seen before… all adds to my growing knowlege.
Chelsea Florist of the year hub meet at Flowervision, Bristol. 1st competition i have entered with regards to floristry. We were asked to design a bridal piece in the style of an eminent fashion designer. I choose Mathew Williamson’s ‘Butterflies’. There were a lot of very stylish pieces, and a tough category to be entered in. Although i didnt get placed, i recieved a score of 84/100. Very pleased with my score, came away disappointed that i didnt get in thwe top two, but recieved some very positive feedback from the judge which has lifted my spirits and will endevour to do better next year.
