18th December 2009 level 3 ANC floristry students from Bournemouth and Poole college spent a day at Canford Magna school nr Wimborne decorating the hall for a special charity function. Students worked in pairs or small groups and were each given an area to decorate. A great opportunity for the students to put into practice what they have been learning at college.

As from September 2009 i enrolled on a preparing to teach course at Poole college. This involves 10 weeks of training, basically to see if i enjoy teaching and to prepare me for the next course due to start in January 2010. I have also started teaching a ‘creative floristry’ level 1 course on a Wednesday night. I teach for three hours with a group showing them the basic floristry skills needed, covering designs like flat packed bouquets, basic funeral tributes, corsages and buttonholes. So far i have really enjoyed the challenges of teaching such a diverse group of students, they are a lovely group and will enjoy working with them and expanding their knowledge over this next year.
